About the winery
The Ametller family has been dedicated to the culture of vine in the Catalan region of the Penedès since the first half of XIX century.
The founder of this saga of grape-growers was Joan Ametller Fortuny, originally coming from Salomó, in the neighboring region of Tarragona, settled down in the town of Sant Martí Sarroca (in the northern part of the Penedès) in 1824.
In 1832, he acquired then the very small operation that, during the course of time, would be transformed into the present Ametller Property.
His descendants developed the wine-growing operation and produced broths that were distributed through the traditional bulk channels of that time.
The enology of the new millennium has reaffirmed that the final quality of the product is very much predetermined by what occurs in the initial phase of this wonderful process: the evolution of the grape in the vineyard.
The men and women of the Ametller Property that form part of seven consecutive generations taking care of its lands, know perfectly which land is most suitable for the cultivation of each one of the varieties, and the exact moment to carry out each task and which is the ideal moment to collect the grape.

La familia Ametller lleva dedicándose al cultivo de la viña en la región catalana de El Penedès desde la primera mitad del siglo XIX.
El fundador de esta saga de viticultores fue Joan Ametller Fortuny, que se estableció en la población de Sant Martí Sarroca (en la parte septentrional de El Penedès) en el año 1824, procedente de la localidad de Salomó, en la vecina provincia de Tarragona.
En el año 1832 adquirió la entonces minúscula explotación que, en el curso de los años, se transformaría en la actual Heredad Ametller.
Sus descendientes fueron desarrollando la explotación vitivinícola y elaboraron caldos que eran distribuidos por los canales de granel tradicionales en esa época.
La enología que apunta al nuevo milenio ha constatado ya que la calidad final del producto viene predeterminada por lo que acontece en la fase inicial de este maravilloso proceso: la evolución de la uva en el viñedo.
Los hombres y mujeres de Heredad Ametller llevan ya siete generaciones consecutivas cuidando de sus pagos, conocen perfectamente cual es el terreno idóneo para el cultivo de cada una de las variedades, cual es el momento preciso para realizar cada labor y, como culminación de este trabajo, cual es el momento idóneo para recolectar la uva.
