In 1999, owners of Three Rivers Winery broke ground on the 16-acre site that is now home to our 18,000 sq. ft. facility. Set atop a small knoll overlooking the surrounding vineyards and Mill Creek, the winery features stunning views of the Blue Mountains in the distance and the nearby Whitman Mission.
Inside, the winery includes two distinct areas: a 14,000 sq. ft. cellar and barrel room used for the production and storage of fine wines, and a 4,000 sq. ft. tasting room, meeting room, and wine retail store open to the public. In addition, the winery features three short holes of golf for winery guests.
I was expecting a western US grenache and was a bit disappointed. Perhaps the Washingtonians do not go for the sweetness that I am used to, or maybe it is just this winery. There was fruit, and it was pleasant, but it seemed very subdued. The mouth feel was a bit thin, again against what I expect. The finish was clean and light but abbreviated. I got this as a present, but I don’t believe I would seek it out at that price given that I have others I like more.
