About the winery
Amisfield Wine Company is a producer of single vineyard, estate grown wines from our vineyard in Lowburn, Central Otago, New Zealand; a region renowned for producing world class Pinot Noir. The Amisfield Vineyard was planted in 1999 with 4 varieties planted; Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, with the first vintage produced in 2002.
Our wine is a reflection of our single vineyard's climate, cultivar & the passion of those who work within Amisfield.
Our culture is "Grown Not Made".
Our approach to viticulture embraces sustainable agricultural practices where vineyard management works with, rather than against nature. Yields are kept low to provide concentrated fruit flavor and complexity derived from a range of soils within the vineyard.
With a state of the art production winery onsite we retain quality control at all times over the fruit as it's processed. The winemaking approach at Amisfield is one of minimal impact on the extraordinary fruit as its processed from season to season, making the wines a natural expression of the land from which they are created.
Continuing this careful hands off approach to wine making, all the fruit at Amisfield is hand harvested. The whites are whole bunch pressed, the pinots are partially whole bunch fermented and all wines are fermented, where possible, with indigenous yeasts.
