About the winery

De Wetshof Estate has over the past two decades become renowned in the Cape for its innovative and advanced use of technology in helping to produce both better grapes and create great wines.

Proprietor and winemaker, Danie de Wet’s love of wine emanates from the time he was a young boy following his father around the farm in the Robertson Valley. The De Wet ancestors arrived at the Cape in 1694 and the family has been involved in the wine industry ever since.

But Danie, who studied at Geisenheim in Germany, realised early in his career the importance of combining a good grounding in wine, natural instinct, together with cutting edge technology, to stay at the forefront of a dynamic and ever-changing industry.
These concepts he has applied in both the vineyard and the cellar.

Marc Roisin      Auderghem  (Belgique)   Une agréable découverte J'avais pris la bouteille un peu par hasard dans les rayons d'un Delhaize (fin de millésime, -20%) et la surprise est de taille. Ce chadonnay est fin et équilibré, avec des saveurs exotiques mais pas cette sensation un peu lourde ou sucrée de certains chardonnays du nouveau monde. Un apéro réussi et apprécié par tous. Samuel Marin      Ixelles  (Belgique)   Un vin blanc puissant assez bon Servi en accompagnement d'un risotto au safran et de crevettes géantes sautées à l'ail et au basilic thaï. Très bon équilibre. La puissance des goûts "forts" de ce plat (safran, parmesan, ail, ...) est correctement canalisée par le vin. benampe      PULDERBOS  (Etats-Unis)   Tegenvaller je verwacht van een Chardonnay toch wat meer smaak en kracht. We hebben een wijn die me doet denken aan Matheus. Heel zachte belletjes, snel wegdrinkend, leuk voor op een zonnige barbecue. Voor deze prijs vind je betere chardonnays.
