Lugana is a wine of remote origins. It is produced to the south of Lake Garda in a small area between Peschiera and Desenzano. Other communes in the territory are Lonato, Pozzolengo and Sirmione, all in the province of Brescia.
The favorable climatic conditions due to the effects of the Garda lake have always favored lush growth. The wines coming from the north, south, east and west of the lake are now clearly distinguished one from another. But they were once lumped together as Rhetic wines.
