Red wines : Breganze DOC

Breganze is an ancient center of grape cultivation in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto. The finest wines of the area have been sent to the market in Breganze for centuries and from there they were shipped to many parts of the country. In the second half of the 19th century, the vineyards of the zone were practically destroyed by phylloxera. When the vineyards were replanted, the Pinot Bianco and Nero, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties were introduced. And that step provided local growers great and immediate satisfaction.

Breganze Bianco is made from the Tocai variety. While maintaining techniques of vinification traditional to the zone, local viticulturists, who were already extensively cultivating various noble varieties of French origin, have been experimenting in the last decade with the fining of their wines in small oak casks (barriques). It has been highly successful and has contributed in substantial fashion to the promotion of the area’s wines on leading international markets.
