Red wines : Moscato di Noto DOC

The Moscato di Noto was created slightly more than half a century ago in the Experimental Winery of Noto, a commune in the province of Syracuse. The objective of the creators was to overcome the variability of Moscato di Siracusa and obtain a wine that could be drunk in its youth, without the necessity of a prolonged period of aging, as well as a product that was finer and more perfumed.

The technical improvement was so significant that, at the first Exhibition-Market of Italian Typical Wines in 1933, only the Moscato di Nolo and not the Moscato di Siracusa was presented.

Produced in limited quantity, the wine is something of a rare gem. It is a particularly attractive wine, indisputably one of the most appealing Moscatos in Italy, and it is a credit to Sicilian enology. It deserves to be more widely distributed, since it offers the scents and flavors of the land that produces it and represents a worthy addition to the world’s cellar of fine wines.
