Vinexus - Infinity of Wine Duitsland : « Very smooth, yet fresh and lively. The mature tannins are sustained by the harmonious fruity structure, where alcohol and acidity reach an ideal balance. The long aftertaste leaves notes of mature cherries. Colour: ruby red. Aroma: characteristic and ample. The Sangiovese notes are dominated by violets and ripe cherries which are well integrated with the spicy scents of vanilla and, lightly, of cloves. On the finish the fruity sensations become riper and reveal elegantly toasted sentors of plum jam. Il Leo Chianti Superiore was recently introduced into Ruffino's portfolio and represents a precious complement to the winery's rich Chianti selection, but reinterpreted in a new style which reflects the demanding taste of the modern consumer. The name of the wine was chosen in honour of Ruffino's founders, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino. This wine is a tribute to the value which Ruffino attributes to the reintroduction of the Chianti Superiore category - one of Tuscany's most antique appellations. Il Leo Chianti Superiore is produced by grapes selected in low yield vineyards located in the Chianti area. No more that 7 tons of grapes per hectare are ever cultivated in these vineyards. Such a yield is even lower than the one produced in most Chianti Classico vineyards. »
