Monbazillac is undoubtedly the most famous of all wines in the Dordogne. They Stret over the South coast of the Dordogne Valley. Its particular characteristic is to be North facing. The soils, situated between 50 and 180 metres high, are clay-chalky with high clay content.
Monbazillac is a so-called ‘blended’ wine for it requires the blend of three grape varieties. Sémillon is grown for its ability to develop noble rot, for its subtle aromas and its full taste. Sauvignon brings a touch of freshness and strength. Muscadelle gives well-rounded, fragrant wines.
