Robert Parker : « Feb 2006 - 92, "The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape (aged 50% in foudres, 35% in tank, and 15% in small barrels) shows superb quality with a big, sweet nose of tapenade, ground pepper, kirsch, blackberry, and licorice. The wine has great fruit, full body, tremendous density, and a layered, full-bodied palate with even a hint of truffle emerging. This wine should drink well for up to a decade." »

Robert Parker : « Feb 2006 - "The medium ruby-colored 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape doesn’t appear to have a lot of color and then hits the palate with a great deal more impact and richness than the somewhat feeble color suggests. The wine has a big, spicy, earthy, peppery nose with cherry jam and hints of the sushi seaweed wrapper called nori. Broad, round, totally seductive and disarming, this is a wine to drink now and over the next 5-7 years." »

Robert Parker : « Feb 2006 - "Readers who love kirsch liqueur intermixed with ground pepper and almost a liqueur of herbes de Provence and earth will go bonkers over the character and concentration of the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet. This wine is so gorgeous now it is hard to believe it is actually going to age that well, but knowing this wine from the 1990 vintage, which is somewhat similar, it ages beautifully for 12-15 years." »
