The Gros Plant du Pays Nantais terroir stretches out to the south and west of Nantes, from Ancenis (east) to Pornic (west) with two important production areas: the east of Sèvre-et-Maine area (Le Loroux Bottereau, Vallet) and the regions of Logne, Boulogne and Herbauges (Corcoué-sur-Logne, Saint-Philibert-de-Grand-Lieu). It recovers approximately 92 communes.
The wines are generally pale with green flecks. They have sharp aromas of citrus fruit (grapefruit, lemon) and refreshing white flowers, and sometimes minerality. The proximity of its vines with the ocean surely gives them a hint of acidity on the palate with notes of lemon and iodine. When they are aged ‘sur lie’ (on lees), the wines develop freshness, lightness and perlant (slight effervescence).
