Robert Parker : « Wine Advocate #188, April 2010 This property used to be owned by Stephan Asseo, a former St.-Emilion resident now living in Paso Robles and making the wines of L’Aventure. The 2009, a blend of 70% Merlot and the rest the two Cabernets, exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color and an elegant nose suggesting a confiture of red and black fruits, spice box, licorice, and a hint of mint. It is lush, rich in fruit, and a delicious wine to drink now and over the next 5-6 years. This wine, which is now made under consultation with Stephane Derenoncourt, clocks in at 14.7 % natural alcohol. (Tasted three times.) »

Château Thieuley - Réserve Francis Courselle 2009

Robert Parker : « Wine Advocate #188, April 2010 Two well-made generic Bordeaux are consistently fashioned by Thieuley. Readers who do not want any wood should buy the regular cuvee, but if you like a little oak, the Francis Courselle should be your choice. Both wines possess generous fruit, and lots of black cherry and black currant notes intermixed with herbs and spice. The Francis Courselle cuts a slightly bigger, oakier, more modern image on the palate, but both wines are well-made and reasonably priced. (Tasted once.) »
