Millésima-usa.com Montrose, for the first time, conducted a green harvest over their entire property in 2006 to obtain optimal yields by variety. Cabernet Sauvignon (72% of the grand vin) was harvested from September 27 to Ocotber 3 while the Merlots were brought in from September 18 to 22. The grand vin represents a selection of 60% and is being matured in 60% new oak. Dense black plum with a purple rim, Montrose \'06 is all in reserve aromatically. The palate exhibits depth and class as well as a velvety texture contrasted with powerful tannins. The wine is wrapped up revealing little but clearly has great purity. This is a \"new\" Montrose in some ways, still very backward as always yet more polished as well. Robert Parker 94+. Tasted from barrel April \'07. |
