About the winery
In the middle of the 20th
Century, Jorge García de la Peña founded a wine-growing business in
order to cultivate over 300 hectares of vineyards of his property. He
dedicated a great part of his life to the care of the quality of his
land to produce a wine of singular characteristics.
At present, his proyect is continued under the Familly Holding Group
García de la Peña, which includes Bodegas García de la Peña for the
elaboration of the wine and Bodegas Peña del Valle for the ageing,
bottling and commercialization of the wines. Both firms use only and
exclusively the grapes from the vineyards belonging to the Group, which
are located in the Region of Tierra de Barros, in the south-west of
Extremadura.
The vineyards belonging to the Group are located on two different
estates: ‘Don Rodrigo’ (200 ha.) and ‘El Cubillo’ (100 ha.). At
present, the varieties used in the production of red wine are: Syrah,
Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha and Tempranillo. Those of the
white wine are: Sauvignon-Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and
Macabeo.
For the ageing of the wines we have a storage room which is totally
air-conditioned and fitted with refrigeration and humidification
equipment. At Bodegas Peña del Valle, the wines are aged in new barrels
of American and French oak.
Sobre la bodega
A mediados del siglo XX Jorge García de la Peña fundó una empresa vitivinícola para cultivar las más de 300 hectáreas de viñedos de su propiedad. Gran parte de su vida la dedicó a cuidar la calidad de sus tierras y a producir vinos con señas de identidad propias.
Su proyecto es en la actualidad el Grupo Empresarial García de la Peña, que cuenta con Bodegas García de la Peña para la elaboración del vino, y con Bodegas Peña del Valle para la crianza, embotellado y comercialización. Ambas utilizan exclusivamente las uvas procedentes de las tierras del Grupo, situadas en la Comarca de Tierra de Barros, en el centro oeste de Extremadura.
Los viñedos del grupo se localizan en dos diferentes pagos: ‘Don Rodrigo’ (200 ha.) y ‘El Cubillo’ (100 ha.). Actualmente las variedades en producción en uva tinta son: tempranillo, cabernet-sauvignon, syrah, garnacha y merlot. En uva blanca: sauvignon-blanc, macabeo, gewürztraminer y chardonnay.
Para la crianza se cuenta con una cámara totalmente climatizada, provista de unos equipos de refrigeración y humidificación que hacen que las condiciones sean siempre óptimas. Bodegas Peña del Valle cuenta con un parque de barricas nuevas tanto de roble americano como de roble francés.
