Entreprise familiale indépendante, la Maison Latour est l'une des plus respectées parmi les négociants-éleveurs de Bourgogne. Connue dans le monde entier pour la qualité de ses vins rouges et blancs, la société s'est construit une réputation de tradition et d'innovation.

Considéré comme l'un des négociants-éleveurs les plus traditionnels, Louis Latour, producteur de certains des meilleurs vins de Bourgogne, a également montré la voie dans la production de vins fins originaires d'autres régions.

Les vins d'Ardèche et des coteaux du Verdon se sont progressivement forgé une réputation de très haute qualité.

Les Latour sont viticulteurs depuis le 17e siècle, et sont aujourd'hui à la tête d'un domaine de 50 hectares (125 acres), sans équivalent, puisqu'il constitue la plus grande surface de grands crus en Côte d'Or avec un total de 28,63 hectares (71,58 acres). Les vignobles vont du Chambertin, au Nord, jusqu'au Chevalier Montrachet, au sud, et sont plantés exclusivement avec les 2 grands cépages bourguignons: le Pinot noir et le Chardonnay.

Tous les raisins originaires des vignes du domaine sont vinifiés dans la très belle cuverie de Corton Grancey à Aloxe-Corton. Premier bâtiment construit à usage de cuverie en France, cette cuverie demeure la plus vieille en activité. Un système unique de monte-charge et de rails permet de réaliser le processus complet de vinification par gravité. Ceci élimine le risque d'oxydation et les pompages superflus des moûts. Depuis 1985, Louis Latour vend les vins de son propre domaine sous la mention spéciale "Domaine Louis Latour".

La famille Latour fonda la maison de négoce en 1797, au 18 rue des Tonneliers, à Beaune et y est basée aujourd'hui encore. Elle est de nos jours unique en Bourgogne avec 10 générations de dirigeants issus de la même famille.

En 1997, année de célébration de son bicentenaire, la Maison Louis Latour a été admise dans le cercle très fermé du club des Hénokiens. Ce club regroupe des compagnies leaders dans leur domaine respectif, restées dans les familles fondatrices pendant au moins 200 ans et portant toujours le nom de leur fondateur.

Il existe, actuellement, 30 de ces compagnies à travers le monde. On trouve aujourd'hui les vins de la Maison Latour sur les meilleures tables dans plus de 60 pays à travers le monde.

About the winery

The family-run company of Maison Louis Latour is one of the most highly-respected négociant-éléveurs in Burgundy. Renowned throughout the world for the quality of its red and white wines, the company has built a reputation for tradition and innovation.

Regarded as one of the traditional négociant-éléveurs, Maison Louis Latour is the producer of some of the finest Burgundian wines but has also pioneered the production of fine wines from outside of the confines of Burgundy.

These wines from the Ardèche and the Côteaux de Verdon are slowly gaining esteem for their unmatchable quality outside of Burgundy.

The Latour family themselves have been viticulteurs since the 17th century, slowly building up a unique Domaine of 50 hectares (125 acres). This Domaine has the largest Grand Cru property in the Cote d'Or with a total of 28,63 hectares (71,58 acres) . The vineyards extend from Chambertin in the north to Chevalier-Montrachet in the south and are solely planted with the two noble grape varieties ; Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

All of the grapes from the vineyards we own are vinified and aged in the attractive cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning. A unique rail-way system with elevators allows the entire wine-making process to be achieved by the use of gravity. This eliminates the threat of oxidation from unnecessary pumping of the must. Since 1985 Louis Latour has been selling the wines of its own vineyards under the name Domaine Louis Latour.

The Latour family founded the 'Maison de négoce', an important shipping company, in 1797 and is still based at 18 Rue des Tonneliers in Beaune. The company is unique in Burgundy in that it is still to this day family owned and family run, having passed down from father to son for over ten generations.

In 1997 to celebrate our Bicentenary, we published a commemorative book and were admitted into the exclusive club of the Hénokiens. This club only admits companies that are leaders in their respective fields, remain family owned, have a history of 200 years' experience and still bares the name of the founder.

There are only approximately 30 of these companies in the world. To this day Maison Louis Latour ships its wines to over 60 different countries worldwide and will be found on some of the most famous dining tables around the globe.

crock      France   Elixir Good Burgundy should have a nose of FYM, preferably horse. Without it, it is nothing. This sexy wine has it in spades(ful), but the price? Oh-la-la! Perhaps all those bankers who bought it to lay down will now offload it that we mere mortals might drink more of it! Seriously though, this is a classic Burgundy which can be tasted through the nose; a deep inhalation and aaaaaaaaaaah, the Cotes de Nuits are at your table............try it with a simple pintade accompanied with a risotto of cepes, or a poulet de Bresse.
