About the winery
Ceralti, is deeply rooted in the territory of Castagneto Carducci, a medioeval Tuscan village situated near Bolgheri and 1 km far from the seaside, in the vicinity of the most beautiful beach of Marina di Castagneto Carducci.
The owners, the Rutili family, moved from Montecavallo (Macerata) to Castagneto at the end of the 19th century. The great grand-father of the present owners was a prominent figure in the life of the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci.
He was a friend of the Italian poet Giosuè Carducci, the Head of the Municipal Orchestra, he became mayor of Castagneto and he was also an expert of trotting horses. This famous agronomist managed to pass on this passion to future generations.
The property spreads out both on the hills and in the plain. Tradition and passion led wine production to be the main activity of Ceralti. The company is presently hand picking about 9 ha of grapes, of which 1 ha is part of an experimental project. The vineyards prevail on the hilly part of the farm, between Castagneto and Bolgheri, the homeland of many world famous DOC wines. (Source: www.ceralti.com)
