About the winery
Christophe Baudry owns Domaine de la Perrière in CRAVANT LES COTEAUX. He is the sixth generation of a wine growing family. He took over from his parents, Jean and Marie-Claire, in 1990. Christophe knows perfectly well the terroir of Chinon with all its subtlety, as well as the people of his region… he is the elected mayor of Cravant-les-Coteaux, the main village of the CHINON appellation. Carrying on the tradition, Christophe is in charge of sales.
Jean-Martin DUTOUR is passionate about wine. He moved to the Chinon region as the head of Domaine du Roncée in 1993 after achieving the viti-oenologue diploma from Montpellier, the premier ‘Grande Ecole’ for viticulture, and was ready to apply the best practices which he had experienced in other vineyards: putting grass in the vineyard, trellising the vines, removing leaves, carefully vinifying the whole fruit… all techniques which are now accepted by all other growers. When he arrived in this unfamilliar region, he was welcomed by Christophe Baudry and thanks to his rigour and dynamism he quickly gained acceptance as an expert. Jean-Martin organizes the work in the vineyard and winery.
Today, BAUDRY-DUTOUR runs 4 estates in CHINON (Domaine de la Perrière, Domaine du Roncée, Château de Saint-Louans et Château de la Grille), each with the same high standard of quality — a daily effort requiring the mastery of both ancestral and innovative methods to reveal the essence of their distinctive and varied lands.

« to understand the geographical situation, it is necessary to imagine the large alluvial plain of the Vienne River. In the plain, for thousands of years, the river bed has often changed. The oldest alluvial deposits composed of light clayey gravels, makes round hills called here in the heart of Touraine, “puys” »
Not too far from the deep river groundwater these poor and well-drained soils allow the Cabernet Franc to have the most beautiful fruit possible. Soft wines to drink at an early age or after a few years.
