I liked this so much the last time that I decided I’d try another bottle. I am always leery of a wine I like that is $10 and under because often that means the makeup will vary with the year simply because they are using the “left overs” – however not so. This year’s was even better than 2007, with deeper flavors and a bit more body. Still an easy drinker with only 13.5% alcohol.

This is one of those little wines you just fall in love with. Truth be told, with a coupon and a discount that day this wine cost me $4.50 but after I tasted it I’d easily pay $15. Nothing that will make Spectator swoon with delight, but lots of fruit and mineral and terroir. Great little food wine and lots of deep color and body. Taking a page from my France trips, I chilled the bottle a bit before opening – wonderful and refreshing. If you like the big boys and a wine that fights back, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a good little wine for almost any informal occasion, buy some Cristia Grenache
