About the winery
Since its foundation in 1975, PARATO has maintained a single objective: to offer cavas and wines of a high standard of quality and prestige combining modern technology with traditional winemaking systems.
The family tradition of winemaking goes back to the past century, when the ELIAS family, owner of vineyards in the Montjuïch mountain area (Barcelona), decided to produce wine from their harvest by incorporating a traditional wine press at their Masia (traditional Catalan farmhouse). From that moment on, the wine that was made, did not only come from the family vines, it also came from the grapes that many neighbours brought for pressing.
This winemaking activity was interrupted by the outbreak of the Spanish civil war which caused the loss of some of the family properties. At the same time, the death of Mr. José Elías Anglí, father of the current founder of the company, caused this activity to be lost completely.
Mr. José Elías Andreu, who kept all the memories of these experiences, decided in 1975 to recover the tradition, and bought a 36 hectare farm, located in the Penedès area of Guardiola de Font-Rubí. The farm was called Can Campmany. There taking advantage of the farm’s old and traditional installations, two complete harvests were pressed.
In 1977 he purchased another farm of 18 hectares in the Pla del Penedès. The winery was built around the Can Respall de Renardes farmhouse (XVIII century), with sufficient capacity for storing and processing all the grapes from the farms.
Currently the property has grown as new vineyards have been incorporated. There are now 94 hectares spread over four estates: Can Campmany, Can Respall de Renardes, La Fanga y Camp Nou.
The common denominator throughout these years of growth has always been the love for the land, the winemaking and the quality of the grapes harvested, as it is the only way for obtaining quality wines and cavas which reflect the privileged environment that surrounds us.
Datos técnicos
Vino tinto varietal fruto del cultivo de la variedad Pinot Noir en nuestra finca, y cuya adaptación al terreno ha sido muy buena. Se trata de un vino suave en el que encontramos toda la frutosidad de esta noble variedad. La crianza en barrica de roble es inferior a un año, ya que buscamos darle unas ligeras notas de madera.
Sobre la bodega
Desde su fundación en 1975, PARATO ha tenido un único objetivo: ofrecer vinos y cavas de calidad y prestigio, conjugando tecnologías modernas y sistemas de vinificación tradicional.
La tradición familiar vitivinícola se remonta al siglo pasado cuando la familia ELIAS, propietaria de viñedos en la zona de la montaña de Montjuïch (Barcelona), decidió vinificar sus cosechas incorporando a su Masía una prensa de vendimia. A partir de este momento no sólo la uva de la familia se vinificaba, sino que además muchos vecinos traían su uva a prensar.
Esta actividad viti-vinícola se rompió al estallar la Guerra Civil Española, que provocó la pérdida de algunas fincas. Paralelamente, la muerte de Don José Elías Anglí, padre del fundador de la actual empresa, hizo que esta actividad se perdiera por completo.
Don José Elías Andreu, quien guardaba en su memoria estas experiencias, decidió en 1975 recuperar la tradición comprando una finca de 36 Has. en el Penedés, ubicada en Guardiola de Font-Rubí, y de nombre Can Campmany. Allí, aprovechando las antiguas y artesanales instalaciones de la Masía, se vinificaron dos vendimias.
En 1977 adquirió otra finca en El Pla del Penedès de 18 Has. Alrededor de la Masía de esta finca, Can Respall de Renardes (siglo XVIII), se construyó la actual bodega de vinificación y almacenamiento, con capacidad suficiente para elaborar toda la uva procedente de las fincas.
La composición actual de las propiedades ha ido creciendo con la incorporación de nuevos viñedos, hasta llegar en la actualidad a las 94 Has. repartidas en cuatro fincas: Can Campmany, Can Respall de Renardes, La Fanga y Camp Nou.
El denominador común de estos años de consolidación ha sido siempre el amor por la tierra, la viticultura y la calidad de la uva recolectada, único camino para obtener vinos y cavas de calidad que son el reflejo de la naturaleza privilegiada que nos rodea.
