About the winery
Over 40 years ago, a handful of winemakers, who believed their land and their wine were totally unique, came together to create a business that was founded on three important beliefs: unity, ethics and excellence. Val d’Orbieu was born.
Val d’Orbieu is a company that is all about people. It stands for a certain vision of wine and wine growing, combined with a pioneering spirit that its founders wanted to be at the very core of the business. We have inherited their vision and continue their work, its origins inspiring us to excellence in everything we do.
Based in Narbonne in the Languedoc Roussillon, Val d’Orbieu is the largest still wine cooperative group in France and therefore a reference in this, the single biggest wine region in the world.
Its 1,591 members, divided over 11 wine cooperatives and 55 domaines and châteaux, produce around 600,000 hl of wine per year. These wines tell their own stories of the mythical terroirs from which they are born….Saint Chinian, Fitou, Corbières, etc. They are the fruit of age-old savoir-faire.
Val d’Orbieu has a wide product range because it intends to appeal to a large number of consumers with its approachable, generous wines that are full of character, like the men and women who work every day to create them. (Source: www.valorbieu.com)
