Château Prieuré Borde-Rouge - Corbières - Carminal Blanc 2010

Il est issu des cépages traditionnels du Languedoc, Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu et Clairette. Il concilie vivacité dans une zone de Corbières. Palette aromatique oubliée, de fruits à chair blanche (pêche), que ce vin blanc nous permet de redécouvrir avec gourmandise. Fermentation et élevage partiels en fûts de 7 à 8 mois. Concentration de fruits à chair blanche aux arômes de miel, d’anis et de garrigues.

Robe étincelante, jaune pâle à reflets verts.
Une série aromatique inédite, aux arômes riches et complexes : les notes mellifères et senteurs de chèvrefeuille se mêlent au caractère savoureux des pêches de vignes et des raisins frais du petit matin de septembre.
La bouche est ample et généreuse d’un équilibre harmonieux entre fraicheur et douceur.
Sa belle persistance annonce une maturation en bouteille prometteuse.
Une personnalité subtile discrètement marquée par chacune de ses composantes.

Suggestion de consommation

Carminal blanc possède une vraie personnalité qui lui permet d’accompagner tout un repas : ses arômes fruités et sa fraîcheur séduiront à l’apéritif, sa complexité aromatique et son gras s’harmoniseront avec poissons (dorade au four, bourride languedocienne) et viandes blanches, vous surprendrez en le servant sur les fromages à pâte dure affinés.

- Cépage : Grenache blanc 45 %, roussanne 35 %, macabeu 15 %, clairette 5 %
- Sol : Calcaire blanc fissuré permettant un enracinement très profond. Éboulis calcaires
- Méthode de vinification : Récolte manuelle. Pressurage en grains entiers. 20 % de la vendange est élevée avec bâtonnage en barrique neuve de 225 litres de chêne français pendant 3 mois. L’autre partie de la vendange est élevée en cuve inox sur lies fines pour conserver toute la fraîcheur de ses arômes.

Produced from the traditional grape varieties of the Languedoc region : Grenache blanc, macabeu, clairette, it combines vivacity and character. With a partial fermentation and maturing in oak barrels over 4 months, this white wine takes us back to rediscover a delicious palette of flavours and aromas oft forgotten, where white peaches are complemented by hints of honey, aniseed and aromatic herbs.

Tasting Notes

A beautiful bright colour with golden highlights, Carminal blanc is distinguished by the originality and complexity of its aromas: reaching the nose first are fresh mineral notes, followed by hints of white peach, and then dried and exotic fruit (dried kumquat).

To the palate, Carminal blanc offers a high concentration of white peach with hints of honey, aniseed and aromatic herbs. The freshness of the exotic fruits is well balanced by the softness provided by the kumquat. The delicate tones of wood, butter and vanilla underpin the fresher top notes. The finish is fresh, straight forward and yet vibrant.

Heavily influenced by the Grenache blanc, Carminal takes us back to rediscover a palette of flavour and aroma oft forgotten. Derived from vines grown at altitude, the wine manages to combine the personality and vibrancy characteristic of the Corbières region.

Serving Suggestion

A perfect accompaniment to dishes at any point in or through out a meal, the freshness of the flavours partner sushi just as well as scallops in cream or chicken in a mushroom sauce. Carminal Blanc really comes in to its own though, as a partner for cheese, revealing its original and complex personality perfectly along side the delicate slices of Tête de Moine cheese.

Technical data

- Soil: Fissured limestone permits deep penetration of the vine roots. Limestone pebbles scatter the vineyards.
- Selection: Carefully hand harvested grapes are pressed whole. 20 % of the harvest is fermented, with battonage (stirring), in new 225 litre French oak barrels for 8 months. The rest is fermented in stainless steel vats to retain the freshness of the flavour and aromas.
- Alcohol: 13,5 %
