The light clear red color belies the refined intensity of red ripe cherries, with some blackberry, and mineral notes. There is a complex underlying structure and a long finish with some smooth tartness and a sandalwood note. I really get what Burgundy is about now that I have had some really good ones. As it turns out this was a special occasion where someone wanted to thank me…boy, I should thank THEM! It was consumed with a 5 course chef’s tasting that included arugula, scallops, cobia, bison and sweet potato – interestingly it made them all taste better!
