Really pleasant. Lots of dark fruits (blueberries, blackberries) and some pepper at the end in this deep ruby colored wine. The nose was also berries and spice cake. Smooth tannins and a little heat (14.5% alcohol) give it a nice edge. There is a fair amount of oak throughout, but mainly at the end. I’m not good enough to tell you American or French oak, but then I don’t care either as long as it is not overdone. This was great with a slab of ribs, but completely overwhelmed a nice salad with chicken and a light dressing (gosh what a surprise!).
