About the winery

The Torres family surname features in Catalan history since the 17th century. Today our family owned vineyards amount to 1,300 hectares, among the best terroir in the region.

The use of modern viticultural techniques, the preservation of traditional methods and a desire not to use chemical products have contributed to the success of Torres.

En el año 1954 Miguel Torres, ya buscaba las más preciadas uvas tintas de la región, Garnacha y Mazuelo, para crear un vino diferente, que expresara el auténtico carácter de la tierra. Así nació "Sangre de Toro", cuyo nombre está inspirado en Baco, dios romano del vino, antiguamente nombrado como "El hijo del Toro".

Sobre la bodega

El apellido Torres está ligado al vino desde hace más de tres siglos, cuando se plantaron las primeras viñas en Vilafranca del Penedès (a 40km de Barcelona). Desde sus orígenes en 1870, como empresa exportadora, Bodegas Torres ha conseguido aunar tradición y nuevas tendencias empresariales y vinícolas con el objetivo de liderar el sector del vino y brandies de primera calidad.

Hoy, el negocio familiar dirigido por Miguel A. Torres, perteneciente a la cuarta generación Torres, comercializa más de 50 marcas diferentes y está presente en más de 140 países del mundo. En España, Bodegas Torres tiene viñedos en las denominaciones de origen Penedès, Conca de Barberà, Priorat, Jumilla y Costers del Segre y bodegas en Penedès, Priorat, Ribera del Duero y Rioja. A nivel internacional, posee bodega y viñedos en Chile (Valle Central en Curicó) y en California (Estados Unidos). En total, la compañía posee 1.869 hectáreas de viñedos, de las que 1.397 corresponden a España, 440 a Chile y 32 a California.

Con una plantilla de más de 1.300 trabajadores, Bodegas Torres facturó más de 205 millones de euros durante el 2010.

buyVINOS EU Deep ruby colour with a hint of ochre. Rich complex Mediterranean aromas with exuberant notes of spices and blackberries. Velvety tannins are noted on the palate with elegant flavours of licorice and small dark forest fruits.

Wine.com Red Wine by Torres from Spain. Fresh, fruity aroma with notes of red berry conserve and leather. Broad palate with well-rounded tannins thanks to its aging. Hints of blackberry jam, very ripe cherry and licorice come to the fore. The wine has a full finish.

Villavino.be Het familiebedrijf Miguel Torres staat bekend om de kwaliteitswijnen die dit, van oorsprong in de Penedès gevestigde, bedrijf al eeuwenlang voortbrengt. Maar de reputatie van Torres gaat verder dan alleen Spanje. Het bedrijf bezit ook wijngaarden in Chili en Californië, waar prachtige wijnen vandaan komen. Dat het bedrijf een onmiskenbare faam heeft, blijkt wel uit het feit dat Miguel Torres in Spanje zelf en ook daarbuiten meerdere malen is uitgeroepen tot één van ‘s werelds beste wijnmakers.
