Dipping my toe in Bordeaux
This wine got beat up badly in the only review I ever read about it., but I liked it! Of course I am not a big Bordeaux fan (there, I’ve said it, I feel better now). The big boys are just too astringent for me, give me fruit or California deep vanilla cabs every time. I suppose you could argue I have never had a GREAT Bordeaux, and at $800 plus I NEVER will, but I don’t know that I would like those either. This wine had a fair amount of fruit, not too much tannins at the end and left a nice taste in the mouth. It does not have the rich mouth feel of the Syrah or the Pinot Noir from Oregon, but it’s not supposed to. I had this with a nice Delmonico and I really enjoyed it, guess my workman’s palate is catching up with me.
