Dark, dark, dark red. Dark plum and black cherry, some licorice and lots of earth. Not a lot of bite because the tannins were smooth, but this did a lot better with strong flavors (cheese and olives) than it did with a chicken dish or alone. I find I really like about 50% of the CDR Villages I try. My biggest complaint about this one would have been an odd, almost funky finish, but I know the wine was not cooked or corked.
