About the winery
Designed by famous French enologist, Pascal Delbeck, in 1996, Abadía Retuerta winery is an elegant combination of tradition and modernity, recognized as one of the most advanced wineries in Europe. It covers an area of 10,000 m2 with limited wine production, as quality is preferred to quantity.
The use of gravity in all of the wine’s movements is noteworthy, as a system of flying repositories composed of cranes keeps the wine from being disturbed by pumps. The temperature of the barrel room is naturally controlled, without expending energy, thanks to its location on the mountainside. Our wines rest in an astounding park of 4,000 stacked barrels, with a patented wine extraction system, maintaining a traditional non-pumping system.
The evolution of the different estates, their microorganisms, aromas, colors and other parameters are studied in all of the elaboration processes. The tasting of the wine, the indispensable work of the ABADIA RETUERTA’s oenologists, is supported by a complete laboratory that performs everything from classical analysis to microbiological and chromatographic studies.
