About the winery
Probably the oldest and certainly one of the more important bodegas in Jerez, the story of this firm goes back to the XVIII century and the arrival in Jerez of an Irishman called Patrick Murphy in 1725. This spectacular bodega was inaugurated in the year 1974 to celebrate the centenary of our brand Fundador, the first Spanish brandy.History, art, architecture, craftsmanship, wine and brandy all combine to compose an authentic symphony of sensations which means that nobody who has the opportunity to visit the historic Fundador Pedro Domecq bodega will be left indifferent.In 2005 the firm was named the best wine producer in the world by the Internacional Wines & Spirits Competition.The Fundador firm possesses amongst others the Castillo de Marcharnudo vineyard, exceptional land located in the Jerez superior region.
