Professionals’ opinions

Massena is a new project between Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish utilizing old vine sourcing in Barossa. This wine blends fruit from parcels from 45 to 120 years old and is composed of 60% Grenache and 20% Shiraz (both yielding one ton per acre) together with 15% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault (from yields of 1/4 ton per acre!). Winemaking was 'Australian traditional' - open top fermenters and basket pressing. Only seasoned French oak was used to avoid masking the extraordinary fruit of this wine. Received a "91" score from Robert Parker - it may deserve more!
