Right in the middle of rice paddy fields, in-between wonderful beaches, the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve and a forest of pines, you can find the cellars of the Herdade da Comporta, the wine-making arm of a project including tourism, rice farming and more.
The cellars have a shop where you can buy the wine and with luck make the tour of the facilities.
Even though located administratively in the Terras do Sado region, the geography and the planted grape varieties turn the wines much closer to those from the neighbouring Alentejo region. Modern winemaking, ripe fruit, full body and soft texture is what you can expect from these wines.
