REVIEW OF BORDEAUX WINE - 12-01-2008 - Note : 90
A concentrated, deliciously poised Pessac that combines the ripeness and texture of a seamlessy delicious wine that can be consumed for the 9-12 years. Its opaque/purple color and fragrance of raspberry, cedar, and crème de cassis, result in a thoroughly in-line finish with no signs of roughness. This is quite satisfying especially when you consider the bargain - Allan Duran - #aged #delicious #red #leognan

WINE SPECTATOR - 03-01-2008 - Note : 90
This shows crushed berry on the nose, with hints of sweet tobacco and cedar. Full – to medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a coffee, toasty oak and ripe fruit aftertaste. Subtle and interesting. Best after 2012.

DECANTER - 12-01-2008 - Note : 17,33 - **** Hight recommanded
Smoky cedary, mineral nose. Rich dark cassis fruit. Smoky smooth palate. Plenty of depth. Fine but firm tannins. From 2014-2024.

Producer tasting note***
Robe : Clear garnet rimmed with brick.
Noze : Dominant spice, leather and tobacco upfront, superseded by intense cassis fruit that bursts out after aeration.
Palate : Supple, elegant, fruity, notes of red berry, raspberry develop as the wine opens out. The mid-palate is very opulent, currently shows fine balance and harmony. Lingering vanilla. Drink before 2015 with lamb shoulder, pork roast with sage stuffing or collar of veal.

Producer tasting note****
Robe : Pale yellow with green and silver highlights.
Noze : Oaky, remarkably intense nose, smoky, toasty notes, which nonetheless do not overshadow the complex floral and fruit character of blackcurrant bud and lemon.
The palate, markedly fresh upfront, is remarkable as it develops elegance, body and suppleness. Long, with lemon and citronella notes. Textbook Sauvignon. Drink within five years with white meats (char-roast chicken, roast pork) or fish (fillet of rockfish in olive oil, sea bass with green tomatoes, swordfish lemon skewers) as well as cheeses.

Producer tasting note****
Robe : Pale yellow, brilliant, gold highlights
Noze : Characteristic floral Pessac-Léognan nose, dominant citrus and tropical fruit notes of passion-fruit and lychee, as well as ripe apricots.
The palate is subtle and gracefully lively and fruity, with notes of melon, apricot and peach. Hints of toasty, melting oak. Smoky. Drink within five years, with Spanish lobster served with a fennel risotto, stuffed mussels, salmon scallopine, devilled mackerel, or just on its own…

DECANTER - 12-01-2008 - Note : 16.66 - **** Hight recommended
Spritely, lifted, red-fruit aromas. Marked freshness on the palate and fine, firm, but smooth tannins. From 2010-2016.

WINE SPECTATOR - 03-01-2008 - Note : 91
Offers aromas of blackberry and earth, with a full body and rich, velvety tannins. There’s loads of fruit and spice, with tobacco and chocolate in the aftertaste. Very Pessac. Best after 2013. #decanter #rare #oaky #aged #complexe

Robe : Garnet, ruby with burnished highlights.
Noze : Intense, empyreumatic character with marked toasty, oaky notes. Leather is present too, and the typical mature Léognan aromas of burnt-out logs and woodsmoke.
Palate : Supple, full tannins show the mature wine, with lovely menthol, licorice, spice and pepper notes exploding onto the palate. Drink within ten years. Delicious with game, honey-sauce couscous or braised beef. #aged #affordable #rare

Producer tasting note*****
Robe : Bright gold
Noze : The fresh citrus (lemon and grapefruit) notes show the delicateness and finesse of Couhins-Lurton white 2006. After agitation, the perfectly integrated smoky and oaky notes become apparent but never over-shadow the fruit aromas.
On the palate, there is an impressive density and softness. It is clear that the 2006 is a magnificent vintage. A broad range of aromas (passion fruit, grapefruit, etc) unveil on the palate and provide a long finish. This wine, still very young, will be in perfect harmony after benefiting from aging a couple of years in the bottle.

Robe : Bright, luminous garnet.
Noze: Surprisingly elegant and balanced oaky, vanilla, chocolate and coffee notes. Ripe cherry and raspberry with a hint of menthol show the wine's aromatic scope.
The palate is elegant, the tannins smooth. Oak just as subtle as on the nose but underscore the concentration and length. Mouthwatering raspberry and redcurrant savours.
Drink within ten years with duck, venison or casseroled meats. #fruits #chocolate #agged

Robe: Wonderfully crystalline, brilliant pale greeny yellow
Noze: Complex, intense nose, citrus and floral (hyacinth, acacia), assorted fruits add to the complexity (apricots, white peach). Smoky, vanilla notes characteristic of the terroir and the oak aging.
Palate: Balanced, elegant throughout, its smoothness and opulence are matched by freshness and excellent length. Fresh fruit notes (grapefruit, fruit salad) linger on the palate. Drink now and within the next five years.
Will complement sophisticated fish dishes such as salmon steak with roast tomatoes and fennel, grilled croaker with asparagus, cream and caviar and also a simple dressed crab. #available #smoky #citrus #floral #affordable
