Vinification system: Maceration for eight days with daily
pumping over at controlled temperatures of 28/30 °C.

Aging: In stainless steel tanks, with frequent racking to
encourage sufficient oxygenation.

Colour: Deep ruby red color.

Flavour: Dry, full-bodied palate with impressive depth and good
balance, despite a slight tannic edge.

Characteristics: Deep ruby red color, fresh, varietal nose with
youthful alcohol and restrained herbaceousness

Wine name: Oltrepo’ Pavese Rosso - IGT Provincia di Pavia

Producer: Az. Ag. Montelio

Type of wine: Rosso Oltrepo’

Grape variety: 40% Barbera, 40% Croatina, 20% Uva rara.

Colour: ruby red tinged with garnet.

Bouquet: Pleasantly, pronunced, vinous, suggestion of liquorice and violet.

Taste: Harmonious, full-bodied, good on the finish.

Best served: 16-18° C. It goes well with all the meat dishes.

Note: This wine is best consumed after 2-3 years.

Grape harvest: Last ten days of September

Harvesting method: Manual

Vinification system: Maceration for at least 10 days with daily
pumping over and temperatures kept between 28 and 30oC.

Aging: When the malolactic fermentation is complete the wine
lies for at least 24 months of which 10/12 in sessile oak barriques
and then in bottles for another 4/6 months.

Colour: Ruby red with purple overtones.

Flavour: Complex nose, forest fruits are overlaid with vanilla and tobacco deriving from the barrels.

Characteristics: It is dry on the palate, full-bodied, slightly tannic but harmonious.

enhances the aroma and lends an elegant bouquet.

**** Very good 
Brilliant dark ruby colour, rich bouquet with ripe fruits, red berries, leather and spices. On palate, this well-balanced full-bodied wine, which improves with age, reveals an extremely dense fruit. The tannins and the anthocyanins draw the glass sides with coloured arches full of glycerine.
It is another good wine I found in Oltrepò Pavese. Wine made with the heart.

An excellent Pinot Nero
Wine name: Bricco Arfena - IGT Provincia di Pavia

Producer: Az. Agr. Picchioni Andrea

Type of wine: Pinot Noir

Grape variety: 100% Pinot noir

Wine processing: We hand-harvest the clusters into small bins, carefully selecting only the best ones. The clusters are subsequently destemmed. After the pressing of the grapes, the must is left in contact with the skins for about 15 days and then is put in barriques, where it ages for one year. Then, it ages in the bottle for additional
eight months.

Organoleptic characteristics: On the nose it reveals hints of withered rose, tobacco and spices. Warm, mellow palate with evident, but smooth and elegant, tannins.

Pairing suggestions: It goes very well with lamb and pork meat dishes.

Best served: 14°C temperature in a glass with a large bowl. #arfena #oltrepopavese #oltrepopavese

Really good barbera from Oltrepo' Pavese
Wine name: Pezzabianca - IGT Provincia di Pavia

Grape variaties: 100% Barbera

Producer: Azienda Agricola Bisi

Colour: Deep ruby red.

Flavour: Rich and complex suite of aromas including hints of red berry fruit and spicy notes.

Characteristics: A richly structured wine, to the palate it is well balanced and expresses Barbera’s typical and authentic plavours. In the mouth it leaves a broad and long aromatic persistence.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand in cases once
they have reached an ideal degree or ripeness. After maceration on
the skins for about 10/15 days, the wine is barrel-agred for
approximately 6 months and then refined in bottles.

The name Buttafuoco come from the slang "al buta me al fogh" that means "to get warm - to wake like like the fire". This wine is a tradizione in Oltrepo Pavese and a DOC.

Maybe you know the Barbera from Piemonte....you should try the one from the Oltrepo Pavese!!
The Albani estate grows their grapes using agricultural methods that are sustainable, thereby allowing us to attain that originality of style that can only be transmitted to a wine naturally by an individual site. They pay great attention to the land, especially in respect of the wild vegetation that springs up between the rows, so enabling the vines to grow in complete balance. One of my best red wine
A real genuine wine, that make fly your mind to the hot Italian summers, made of sun, relax, balm-cricket sound and skin burned by the sun.
